Collaborative Projects Manager
High Performance Computing Wales (HPC Wales) is a £40 million, pan-Wales project which will give businesses and universities involved in commercially-focused research access to the most advanced and evolving computing technology available in Europe, establishing Wales as a key international centre for specialist computational research. HPC Wales is supported by Welsh Assembly Government, UK Government and European Structural funds. The availability of this technology is set to have a major ongoing impact on the economy, not only in terms of research, innovation and enterprise engagement, but also in its unprecedented and holistic approach; upskilling, training and educating its user community.
A charitable Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been set up as a unique collaboration between the Welsh Universities to manage the initiative. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Collaborative Projects Manager will be responsible for advising the Board on stakeholder issues and support the development of engagement between industrial partners and the selected, appropriate academic support in order to develop innovative applied research solutions. They will also focus on HPC skills needs, to support the development of training provision for researchers in universities and businesses.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of overseeing the delivery of complex projects across a wide and diverse range of stakeholders, and be familiar with the development of applied research with multiple partners across scientific communities in academia and industry, to ensure the satisfaction of user needs.
This is a fixed-term, part-time position working three days a week until June 2015, with the option to renew following review after the contract end date.
