Leadership and IT Project Management

The very nature of the Information Technology sector means there is a constant drive for innovation. Some of the main reasons revolve around agility being the main leading factor in adapting to changes (internal and external) to deliver changes results most productively and cost-effectively.  That is why managing project teams are all about serving the team but also enabling them to do their best.

CIOs believe that the key to successful project delivery in IT initiatives is driving results and change through team members. According to Russell Reynolds, people, outcomes and change-related competencies are significant because these reflect IT operational excellence (delivery on time, staying within budget). IT leadership is actually directly driven by organisational commitment. It is vital that project managers are in an environment where there is continuous support through resources and support.

In a nutshell, when IT project managers create an environment in which their fellow colleagues feel supported it will result in a strong unity.
