Trump Impeached – But It May Not Mean What You Think

Donald Trump

A few weeks ago some people cheered at the news that President Donald Trump had been impeached. The president was impeached on charges that he abused the power of his office for domestic political advantage and subsequently obstructed Congress’ abilities to hold him accountable.

Now, Trump is the only first term president to be impeached, and the third in the history of the country. Trump, however, doesn’t seem to think he’s been impeached at all. He told a crowd that it didn’t feel like he was, and that “The country is doing better than ever before. We did nothing wrong. And we have tremendous support in the Republican Party.”

While many people continue to scoff at his arrogance, this decision doesn’t mean he will be removed from office. The senate is republican controlled, so removing him from office will be a highly unlikely development.

The trial will begin soon, now that the senate has had it’s winter recess. Many people are not holding out hope that he will be removed, even though they didn’t have much hope he would be declared as impeached, either.

You might be wondering what the point of it all is if he is not removed from office, like many people around the world.

Well Democrats counter that this vote will be a black mark on the president’s name that voters may find impossible to ignore when casting their ballots. Many others believe it is far more important in the grand scheme of things.

Do you think Trump should have been impeached and should he be removed? How is he doing as president? The infographic below outlining how to create a good public policy could make you think.
