Clegg Construction has reached a significant milestone on a £13m care home development near Milton Keynes, holding a topping out ceremony as the structure reaches its highest point.
The three-storey, 96-bed care home is being built for Hampton Healthcare, part of the Rochmills Group, on land behind Woburn Sands Garden Centre, off Newport Road. The scheme is due for completion in 2026 and will introduce a new care model to the local area, combining residential care with a range of premium communal facilities.
Plans for the development include a rooftop garden with a champagne bar, a piano lounge, private dining areas, a cinema and an entertainment suite, alongside a mix of rooms and larger suites designed to provide comfortable long-term accommodation.
Michael Sims, managing director of Clegg Construction, said the topping out marked an important step in the project’s progress. “We are very pleased to be celebrating the topping out stage of this development for Hampton Healthcare,” he said. “As a company with significant experience of building care homes, we are proud to be delivering a scheme that will bring a new and distinctive care offering to the area. We look forward to completing the care home later in 2026 and to the day when residents move in.”
The ceremony brought together members of the project team, with attendees signing a section of wall that will later be enclosed within the finished building. Construction work is continuing alongside the day-to-day operation of Woburn Sands Garden Centre, which remains open to the public.
Kabir Sehmi of the Rochmills Group said the milestone reflected steady progress on a development intended to serve both Woburn Sands and the surrounding communities. “We are delighted to reach this stage and look forward to welcoming residents to our new care home in 2026,” he said. “We are excited to bring our care services to the area.”
The wider project team includes APC Architects, Ridge and Partners LLP as engineers, CS2 Limited as employer’s agent, and Gill Jackson Interiors.
