Telehouse Breaks Ground On £275 Million Telehouse West Two Data Centre

Telehouse West Two Breaking Ground

Telehouse International Corporation of Europe has started construction of Telehouse West Two, a new £275 million data centre at its existing Docklands campus in East London. The project, scheduled for completion in 2028, expands the company’s long-standing presence in London, where it has operated for more than 35 years.

The facility is being developed by Flynn Management & Contracting Ltd in partnership with Jones Engineering Group, which will provide mechanical, electrical, and fire protection services.

Situated near London’s financial district, Telehouse West Two is intended to accommodate increasing demand for data capacity, particularly for applications in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. The building will use both air and liquid cooling systems to support high-density compute environments, and will include two meet-me rooms and four dedicated secure connectivity risers.

According to Kenkichi Honda, Managing Director of Telehouse Europe, the project forms part of the company’s wider strategy to strengthen its UK and global operations. He said the new facility reflects Telehouse’s “ongoing commitment to deliver reliable, sustainable digital infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Designed with energy efficiency and reliability in mind, the facility will operate on 100% renewable energy and is being built to BREEAM Excellent standards. It will include HVO-fuelled backup generators, provisions for heat recovery, and target very low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) metrics. The data centre is expected to offer 99.999% uptime, supporting uninterrupted operations for clients across multiple sectors.

The nine-storey building will cover 32,000m², including 11,292m² of white space across six levels. Two new 132kV substations will supply power across the wider campus, providing an overall capacity of 33MW. Each floor will be capable of delivering up to 4.4MW of power. Security features will include 24/7 on-site personnel, multi-layered access control, and continuous surveillance.

Kevin Flynn, CEO of Flynn Management & Contracting Ltd, said the company was “pleased to continue its partnership with Telehouse on a development that supports the capital’s growing digital requirements.” He added that the project “offers an opportunity to deliver a modern, efficient data centre that reflects the increasing importance of robust infrastructure in the UK market.”

Brendan McAtamney, Group Director of Jones Engineering Group, said the collaboration “represents a significant data centre project for London,” noting that his team was “looking forward to contributing its engineering expertise to the construction and installation of core services.”

Once complete, Telehouse West Two will add further capacity to one of Europe’s most connected data centre campuses, supporting the continued growth of the UK’s digital infrastructure and the wider adoption of next-generation technologies.
